IACS is the largest open intake shelter in Indiana. We take in every animal regardless of age, size, species, or temperament. This leads us to take in anywhere from 13,000-15,000 animals a year. We work with over 100 rescue partners to transfer animals that have behavior or medical needs that surpass what our shelter can provide. We are always in need of fosters and volunteers if you want to be more involved with the shelter. The applications can be found on our website, https://www.indy.gov/agency/animal-care-services. The shelter has a 501C3 non-profit that is associated with us. Their name is Friends of Indy Animals, and all monetary donations go to them to be used for the shelter.
